Abstract: Chern‘s proof of the Gauss-Bonnet theorem is a milestone of modern differential geometry. In this talk, we'll review the basis aspects of the theorem and try to explain the relationship between the idea behind Chern's proof and the famous construction of the Thom form by Mathai and Quillen.
