Abstract
In the pointwise theory of the Furstenberg celebrated averages an important problem is the search of an appropriate maximal inequality that would control the pointwise behavior of these averages. (In the simpler case of the classical Cesaro averages this role is played by Birkhoff famous maximal inequality.)
The purpose of this talk is to provide a solution to this problem.
